"The DLB continues to be the top literary reference resource. Highly recommended for reference collections."
--Library Journal, June 15, 2007
"This database provides 'over 11,000 biographical and critical essays on the lives, works and careers of the world's most influential literary figures from all eras and genres.' Entries present biographical information, genres, writings, detailed biography, and further reading. Searches can be done on Author, Title, Birth Year, Death Year, Nationality, Subject/Genre, Essay Topics, Full Text keywords, Ethnicity, Gender and DLB volume title, or a combination of these."
--Lawbook Co., 2007
"The online DLB provides fast, easy access to the set that librarians and researchers know well... Onscreen help is well written and useful, and the search form provides a number of access points, including author, title of work, genre, full text, and DLB volume title... The text of the print and online essays is identical, although the latter adds hyperlinks to other entries. The bibliographies are duplicates as well, but the online version omits the helpful organization by source type. Some features of the print DLB are missing, including up-front identification of the DLB volume. Also missing are the invaluable facsimiles and photographs. Recommended for all libraries, expecially those without access to the print."

The vast majority of the essays are both solidly documented and pleasant to read. They most indubitably come up to the high standard one has come to associate with the DLB.
