Published by Primary Source Microfilm
This remarkable collection of miscellaneous publications of the Confederate States of America is the most complete collection of its kind available. Skillfully compiled, these written records remain the best source of information for students of history and scholars of the Civil War period.
Based on historian Marjorie Lyle Crandall's Confederate Imprints: A Checklist Based Principally on the Collection of the Boston Athenaeum, and Richard Harwell's More Confederate Imprints, this collection contains 6,188 entries. Some of the topics included in Confederate Imprints are military history, social history, political history, literary history and religious history.
The items in the Crandall and Harwell bibliographies are integrated on the microfilm collection in strict numeric sequence. The items listed in Crandall are microfilmed in the same sequence as the listing in the bibliography. The items listed in Harwell are interfiled on the film in their proper place using the Crandall-compatible number which Harwell provides. Direct and convenient access from the bibliographies to each document on the film is thus provided.
Confederate Imprints: A Reel Index to the Microfilm Collection is provided with each order for the complete collection and lists the contents of each reel by document number. In addition, microfilm copies of both Crandall and Harwell bibliographies are included in the first reel of the collection.
