History of Women was produced from two renowned collections--The Sophia Smith Collection at Smith College and The Schlesinger Library at Radcliffe College -- providing thousands of printed and manuscript sources amassed from women's individual and corporate activities. Other sources for this collection include the Jane Addams Hull House Library (for coverage of the settlement house movement, and activities of women in social reform in the late 19th and 20th centuries); the private collection of Miriam Y. Holden, a participant in the struggle for equality of women (for sources on Medieval and Western European women); the Ida Rust Macpherson Collection from Scripps College (for coverage of the role of women in the westward movement); and the holdings of the New York Public Library, the Galatea Collection of the Boston Public Library, the Widener Library at Harvard University and the Yale University Libraries.
