Previous title: Bibliography of the Fine and Applied Arts: Complete Author Catalogue
The National Art Library is Britain's pre-eminent art library. Originated in 1843, the collection offers the rich results of more then 150 years of determined collection development. International in scope, the catalog covers more than 400,000 items, over 60% of which were published outside the British Isles.
This author catalog on microfiche provides a comprehensive record of the library's holdings up to the end of 1986, and completely replaces the last catalog. An essential reference tool for art libraries, it is indispensable for anyone adopting the art history approach or the approach of the connoisseur.
All forms of fine and applied arts are covered: architecture, ceramics, design, fine painting, illustrated books, needlework, oil painting and water colors.
This will be the last comprehensive author catalog ever to be issued by the National Art Library. Acquisitions from 1987 onwards are being recorded within a computerized cataloging system to be made available separately later.
