This collection gives cinema scholars an opportunity to study the final shooting scripts for several genres of Warner productions from 1930-1950, Hollywood's golden age. As primary source documents for the cinema scholar, screenplays are distinct from the published film script, which is a transcription of a completed picture. The screenplay is a final version of the script that the director and other studio personnel actually used to produce the film.

Screenplays reveal the complex craft of creating films as well as illustrating the art of screenwriting. They also give unrivaled insight into methods of direction and the wide range of other skills involved in filmmaking.
