"Compared to its closest competitor, the recent Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy (Routledge, 1998), the Encyclopedia of Philosophy remains, as a whole, more accessible to students. This is not to say that student users will not be challenged to follow discussions of quantum mechanics, set theory or the works of Bertram Russell. Both sets serve scholars extremely well; however considering the substantial price difference, the Encyclopedia of Philosophy provides a more affordable option for libraries on tight budgets.
