The Negro Labor Committee (NLC) was one of the first organizations to address the problems of all black workers, becoming widely accepted as "the voice of black labor" during the 1930s and '40s. The activities of this historic group, plus the contributions of its long-time chairman Frank R. Crosswaith and of the many smaller unions affiliated with it, are thoroughly documented in this important collection of working files, correspondence, publications, and other materials.
