Now revised and expanded to incorporate numerous new materials, this is an introduction and guide to the primary and secondary sources produced by and about Christian enterprises and individuals in China--especially missions and missionary activity--and preserved in hundreds of repositories in America. It includes data from the early eighth century through 1952, when American missionary activity in China virtually ceased. The work has become the primary source for researching American Christian activity in China. For this new edition over 60% of the institutions represented have significant changes, including the Yale Divinity School Library and Archives, the Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History at the University of San Francisco, and the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College. Information about missions in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, in addition to updated information on mainland China, has been added. The new edition also includes updated contact information, with e-mail contacts and internet addresses for immediate contact and research, and the indices have been revised as well.
