Historia de Grecia Antigua

  • Published by Ediciones Akal

The history of ancient Greece is characterized by great diversity, despite the apparent supremacy of Athens, which shines and seems to overshadow the rest of the Greek world. Along with the political form of the polis was different from other types of organizations, such as ethnos, tribal in nature, which were organized numerous Greek states. Neither the history of Greece is reduced only to classical Athens and the periods immediately before and after, the Greek world starts its roots from the substrate that is drawn in pre-Hellenic civilizations Aegean and still fully alive after Alexander's conquest during periods Hellenistic and Roman, despite the abrupt change in the political arena. In this book we have tried to reflect this diversity, spatial and chronological, focusing on different regions of the Greek world from Asia Minor to Sicily and southern Italy, covering a time span ranging from the Minoan civilization to the Roman occupation. Recognizing the crucial importance of information sources when constructing the story of a culture, we have devoted considerable space to the study, highlighting its conditions and limitations.
