Part of Gale's American Civil Rights Reference Library, American Civil Rights: Almanac presents a comprehensive overview of the history and current status of the civil rights of various racial, ethnic and nonethnic groups in the U.S. Information is arranged in six chapters by group: African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, nonethnic groups (including women, lesbians and gay men), and selected immigrant groups.

American Civil War: Almanac provides subject chapters offering viewpoints, definitions, chronological coverage of battles, further reading, timeline and sidebars highlighting individuals, statistics and other attention-grabbing information. Also included are a glossary, 125 photographs, research and activity ideas, organization contact list and an index.
