With African American Voices, your students will discover 35 full or excerpted speeches and other notable spoken works of African Americans. Covered are famous oral presentations such as Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" and Sojourner Truth's "Ain't I a Woman?" speeches, as well as lesser-known and harder-to-find orations, such as Fannie Lou Hamer's chilling testimony to the Democratic National Convention about her efforts to register to vote in Mississippi in 1962.
