FBI File on the Atlanta Child Murders (ATKID)

Between the summer of 1979 and the spring of 1981, America's attention was riveted upon the abduction and murder of thirty black children and young adults in Atlanta, Georgia. Under the Federal Kidnapping statute, twenty-five FBI agents wer allotted to the racially sensitive investigation. After a major effort, the FBI arrested Wayne Bertram Willaims, 23, a self-described talent sccout who used his agency to meet the children. Williams was convicted on two counts of murder after a year-long trail.

The file dates from June 1980. It contains memos, letters, lab tests, a detailed account of the trial, and records of civil-rights questions regarding the case raised by Georiga Representative Mildred Glover and others.
