The Records and Briefs of the U.S. Supreme Court

  • 1891-1896

  • Published by Scholarly Resources, Inc.

Records and Briefs offers full documentation of the arguments and evidence presented for cases that, by reaching our highest court, tested the foundations of U.S. law. This collection serves both as a model for arguments in constitutional law and as evidence of the evolution of American jurisprudence. Scholarly Resources publishes the only edition of Records and Briefs that includes every case brought before the Court - not only those in which full opinions were issued but also those resulting in per curiam and certiorari-denied decisions. This edition incorporates all available materials filed with the clerk of the Supreme Court for each case, including such documents as:

  • briefs of appellees and appellants
  • petitioners' briefs and briefs in opposition
  • amicus curiae briefs
  • evidence from lower courts
