This collection is comprised of obituary records of graduates of Yale University. A excellent resource for genealogical research, these obituaries contain valuable biographical information, often including the person's date and place of birth, date and place of death, details of his/her education, life's work and the community in which he or she lived, along with family information such as the names of parents, spouses and children. Arranged by class (e.g. the Class of 1865), the obituaries were presented at the annual meeting of alumni and then published as books. In addition, this collection also contains Biographical Sketches of the Graduates of Yale College with Annals of the College History, by Franklin Bowditch Dexter. These sketches were compiled and published from 1885-1913 as a supplement to the obituary record.
