Emily Greene Balch (1867-1961), one of only two American women to win the Nobel Peace Prize, played a leading role in the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom of which she was elected honorary international president. Her papers are organized in three chronologically arranged series:

Biographical Series (family correspondence, articles about Balch, material related to her 1946 Nobel prize)

Correspondence Series (letters to and from such figures as Jane Addams, Hannah Clothier Hull, Lucia Ames Mead, Alice Thacher Post, and Florence G. Taussig)

Balch's diaries, journals, notes, manuscripts for articles and speeches, other miscellaneous writings
