This collection records one of the most famous cases of the twentieth century. In 1925, the Tennessee legislature passed a law against teaching any theory contradicting the biblical story of creation. Scopes violated it in his classroom, and the subsequent trial was a major media event, pitting Clarence Darrow against the fundamentalist William Jennings Bryan. All the documents and transcripts of cross examinations from the trial and appeal of Scopes are included. Also provided is a bibliography of the best works on the case.
