Jump Into Science: Themed Science Fairs. By Carol Peterson. Westport, Conn.: Teacher Ideas Press, 2007. 1 vol. 139 p. $30.00. ISBN 978-1-59158-413-1.

Jump Into Science: Themed Science FairsA reference book for elementary teachers, this is divided into four thematic units: earth science, ecology, life science and physical science. It can be used during the class study of that unit or it can be used to plan science experiments and to structure a classroom science fair. Teachers are encouraged to choose one of the four themes and assign one project for each student. An appendix gives "Tips for Students" on how to plan, including "The Scientific Method," how to use visual aids and how to report along with "Student Safety Rules" and "Tips for Teachers" as well as a certificate that can be reproduced. A good choice for the teacher who would like to have help in planning a class science fair.
