Ken Kutaragi: PlayStation Developer. Detroit, Mich.: Kidhaven Press Thomson Gale, 2008. 1 vol. 48 p. $27.45. ISBN 10: 0-7377-3862-6; 13: 978-0-7377-3862-9.

Ken KutaragiStudents will learn about the man behind one of the most successful and fastest-selling game consoles in history, PlayStation. Color photographs, some full page, illustrate this history. Kataragi was born in Tokyo but lived for a time on Taiwan. He was interested in mechanics, so it was natural that he would study computers in general and computer graphics in college. His story should help the young reader understand that inventing a computer game is a very profitable undertaking. It might happen if more time was spent on discovering how the games work rather than simply playing them for amusement.
