Saving our environment is a political issue because of the attitude of governments who do not consider their actions to be destroying the environment. It is a personal issue because many individuals do not believe that the environment is at risk. Written for the elementary audience, the authors of this series state the facts and students can draw their own conclusions or can do further research to confirm or reject their theories. The books in this series follow a similar format: four chapters, notes, glossary (of terms in bold face in the text), and bibliography. Color photos, charts, and drawings make them attractive; and the vocabulary can be read and understood by most elementary students above grade 2. While these could be housed in the reference collection, one copy should be in the circulating non-fiction collection.
