Give your students access to 200 reviews of outstanding books from 2006. For each signed essay, the author’s name is given, publisher, price, type of work, the time period, the locale, and a one-sentence statement. Each shows the cover and often a photograph of the author in black and white. Principal characters are briefly identified. The 4-page essays end with a list of review sources. Small inset boxes give more information about the author. While the essays do tell a great deal about the book, teachers should be able to create assignments to ensure that the information in these reviews cannot take the place of information required for writing the entire report. Appendixes include biographical works by subject, a category index, a title index, and an author index.
