Julia Butterfly Hill: Saving the Ancient Redwoods. By Rachel Lynette. Detroit, Mich.: Kidhaven Press Thomson Gale, 2007. 48 p. $24.95. ISBN 10: 0-7377-3628-3; 13: 978-0-7377-3628-1.

Julia Butterfly Hill: Saving the Ancient Redwoods Not too many people would volunteer to live for two years in a tree in order to save it, but Julia Butterfly Hill did just that to save a redwood in northern California. An important message here is that protest is not simple, it can be a lengthy process, and it doesn’t always end in success although with the redwood, it did work.
