Opposing Viewpoints

This series is intended to help students attain reading and higher level skills by providing different opinions that will stimulate debate. The hope is that students will be challenged “to question their own strongly held opinions and assumptions.” Volumes are similar in format, with each chapter asking a question and providing the varied answers. Things for the readers to think about are posed. At the end of each chapter, a bibliography of periodical articles is given to supplement the views in that chapter. A few black and white illustrations, cartoons, and charts illustrate the text, and inset boxes offer additional information. Four pages are devoted to “For Further Discussion;” 5 pages of “Organizations to Contact” and a 3-page bibliography of books completes each volume.
