Benefits of Microform

"Microfilm continues to be the most universally accepted archival format, with a life expectancy of 500 years. It is eye readable and can be used by most everyone. The use of 35mm microfilm permits filming of large format materials in total image perspective and in sections for greater clarity. Lower reduction ratios provide a high degree of clarity for the smallest documents. Microfilming provides excellent results for many flat materials including newspapers, manuscripts, maps and bound books."
-- Microfilm and Imaging Review, Spring 2000
