FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Jan. 19, 2007 – Large-print readers are like any other reader – they come to the library looking for today’s hottest bestseller. Unfortunately, many times large-print readers are forced to wait six to nine months for the latest book to be produced in large print. Thanks to Thorndike Press’ new Simultaneous Publication program, the wait for the latest and greatest large-print title is less than a month.
Thorndike Press offers the largest selection of award-winning, bestselling, popular and classic fiction and nonfiction titles in large print, and publishes more New York Times bestsellers than any other large print publisher. It is an imprint of Thomson Gale, which is a part of Thomson Learning.
To bring large print readers the most current material possible, Thorndike Press offers bestselling large-print editions – nicknamed “Sim Pubs” – that are often times released within days of the publisher’s regular print editions. This year, Thorndike Press will publish more than 80 large-print bestselling titles simultaneously with the regular editions. These titles include “White Lies” by Jayne Ann Krentz, “Whitehorn Woods” by Maeve Binchy, “Fresh Disasters” by Stuart Woods and “I Heard That Song Before” by Mary Higgins Clark.
“Libraries are serving all kinds of large-print customers,” said Jill Lectka, Thomson Gale’s Senior Vice President for Circulating Nonfiction/Trade/Large Print Publishing.
“From the struggling reader to the aging reader, large print is for everyone. Libraries want to make sure they have the most current offerings for their customers. We listened when they asked us to make bestsellers immediately available in large print so they can better serve their customers.”
