Submit Video

Here are some helpful guidelines to make a winning video:

  • If you don't already have one, sign up for a YouTube account. It's simple: go to http://www.youtube.com and follow the steps.
  • Next, upload your video, YouTube has this process down to a science. When you upload, you are agreeing to YouTube's Terms of Use (especially section 5, covering "User Submissions").

Remember to include the name, address and phone number of your library in the description box for your video. We'll need that to contact you if you're a finalist or the Grand Prize Winner. Here's an example:

  • Now you're ready to submit your video to Gale's Librareo group. Visit www.youtube.com/group/librareo and click "Add Videos".
  • That's it! We'll send you an e-mail after your video has been received and soon it will be added to the contest submissions.

What are we looking for?

Watch "Signs of our times…" (above) to view a commercial we put together with the cooperation of public libraries in Ferndale and Farmington Hills, Michigan.

You'll notice we used our "Power to the user" tagline at the end, but also found a way to introduce the icon earlier in the action. We have no rules about how you represent this image, only that you include it. We hope you'll be creative. There are several versions of this image available in the downloads section of this Web site.
