Search 1:

Solution:

  1. Open Twayne's Authors Series and go to the "Authors A-Z" page.
  2. Click on the "here" link in "Click here for books on special topics".
  3. Click on the "American Indian Poetry" link to go to the page that provides general critical analysis of American Indian poetry as well as analysis of American Indian poets.

Search 2:

How can one get information on 19th century Brazilian novelists?

Solution:

  1. Open Twayne's Authors Series and go to the "In Depth Search" page.
  2. Select "Novels" in the "Genre" box.
  3. Select "19th Century" in the "Time Period" box.
  4. Select "Brazilian" in the "Nationality" box.
  5. Click on the "Search" button to retrieve one novelist:

Search 3:

A college English literature class student wanted to find some comments on the Toni Morrison novel Beloved.

Solution:

  1. Opened Twayne's Authors Series and went to the "In Depth Search" page.
  2. Entered "Toni Morrison" in the "Author Name" entry box.
  3. Entered "novel n3 Beloved" in the "full-text" entry box.
  4. Clicked on the "search" button and retrieved two records that included discusion of Beloved.

Search 4:

How can one find information on Victor Hugo's novel, Les Miserabes, to help start a research paper on this work?

Solution:

  1. Open Twayne's Authors Series and go to the "Research Ideas" page.
  2. Click on the "Select Twayne's World Authors" link.
  3. Click on the "Hugo, Victor" link under "Life in the Industrial Age".
  4. Scroll down to chapter 8, "The Late Novels", and click on the "Les Miserables" link to retrieve critical analysis of this novel.

Solution:

  2. Click on "S" to see the link to Dr. Suess' biographic and literary critical information. The link says:
