science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports
and more.
Search 1:
A student using InfoTrac Student Edition wanted to
find an encyclopedia reference for the ancient temple of Angkor
Wat in Cambodia.
Solution:
- Opened InfoTrac Student Edition, went to the "Subject
guide search" page.
- Entered "Angkor Wat"
in the entry box.
- Clicked on the "Search"
button and retrieved two encyclopedia references from The Columbia
Encyclopedia.
- Selected the most recent entry,
which was from Edition 6, 2000.
Search 2:
A student using InfoTrac Student Edition wanted to find some full-text
articles for a report he was writing on environmentally-friendly house construction.
Solution:
- Opened InfoTrac Student Edition and went to the "Keyword
search" page.
- Entered "house* construction
and environment*" and selected search for words "in
title, citation, abstract".
- Clicked on the "Search"
button and retrieved 30 articles matching the student's
request.
Search 3:
A student using InfoTrac Student Edition needed to find out who the
current president of Botswana was for a class report and his political activities
to date.
Solution:
- Opened InfoTrac Student Edition, went to the "Subject
guide search" page.
- Entered "Botswana and president" in
the entry box.
- Limited to articles with text.
- Clicked on the "Search" button and retrieved more than 20 articles about
President Festus Mogae.
Search 4:
A student using InfoTrac Student Edition was looking for
full-text articles about the city of Petra in Jordan for a class
report.
Solution:
- Opened InfoTrac Student Edition and went to the "Subject guide search" page.
- Entered "Jordan and Petra" the entry box.
- Checked the "to articles
with text" box.
- Clicked on "Search" button and retrieved seven articles, five of which
were relevant to the student's search request.
Search 5:

Solution:

Search" page.
- Selected "Key Word (ke)"

the entry box.
- Limited to articles with text.
- Clicked on the "Search" button and retrieved 10 articles matching
