PriceIt! Antiques & Collectibles Sample Searches

PriceIt! Antiques & Collectibles is an electronic database antique/collectibles pricing tool, containing data from a variety of sources, including online auctions (eBay), online antique dealers (GoAntiques & TIAS) and over 50 auction houses. The database currently has over 23 million prices realized for art, antiques and collectibles in more than 100 categories and subcategories with over 10 million images. Nearly 2 million records are being added each month.

Search 1:

After searching through some childhood things on a Saturday afternoon, an elderly patron brings in a Gordie Howe rookie hockey card, and wishes to know if it is worth any value.

Solution:

1. Enter "gordie howe" rookie card
2. Check the boxes for "sold items"
3. Check the box "only display items with images"
4. Click on the Search button
5. You receive items ranging in various prices

You see on the first result screen a similar card only it is in a display plaque. You also notice the name of the card and the picture of it is the same as the patrons — they also both say "#66".

6. Type in #66 at the end of your search string in the narrow search box
7. Click on the "narrow search" button

You notice now that some of the items are sets

8. Add "- sets" to the entry
9. Click "narrow search" again

Search 2:

Another patron asks about a bronze Salvadore Dali statue that they think is an original art work.

Solution:

1. Enter Salvadore Dali without quotes
2. Check the box for "sold items"
3. Check the box "only display items with images"
4. Click the Search button

Add the words bronze and original

5. Re-execute the search

Search 3:

A third request was for a walnut Seth Thomas calendar clock.

Solution:

1. Enter the search term "Seth Thomas."
2. Check the boxes for "sold items"
3. Check the box "only display items with images"

You would like to narrow your search results.

4. Add walnut calendar to the search box
5. You will now receive a more narrow range of results

Search 4:

A fourth request was for a Roseville Sunflower pot, which the patron referred to as a "jardinière," although they were not sure on the spelling.

Solution:

1. Enter the search phrase Roseville Sunflower
2. Check the boxes for "sold items"
3. Check the box "only display items with images"
4. Click on the Search button

Next, modify the entry

5. Enter a space - (minus sign) space
6. Then type in vase (this will take out any vases)
7. Then, leave a space and type in jardiniere
8. Click on the search button
