  Why did Gale develop an iPhone app?
  At Gale we believe "power to the user" equals value to the library! We make it a priority to help libraries increase traffic – with widgets, marketing tools and customized features on many of our products. This free app is just one more way we are working to boost usage of your resources. It helps people find quality information while raising awareness about the rich content available in your library.

  Where can I download the AccessMyLibrary application?
  You can download it free from the iTunes Store. It will load instantly onto your iPhone or iPod touch device.

  Where can I get more information on this app?
  You can learn more at www.gale.com/apps/library, a Web page set up especially for librarians.

  Where should I direct patrons?
  Direct patrons to either the iTunes Store or to www.gale.com/apps for end-user information.

  Why do I not see my library in the app?
  The application currently lists public libraries that own, or have access to, Gale e-resources. If your library qualifies but is not listed, contact Gale Technical Support at 1-800-877-4253, option 4.

  Will other markets be included?
  We are researching specific apps for markets other than public libraries, including K-12 and academic, and have been getting great feedback from those markets. We will announce these plans as soon as we have production schedules.

  Does this application work on devices other than iTunes products?
  The application can be downloaded only onto iTunes devices. We are doing research on BlackBerry and other devices and will provide updates on our expansion plans.

  Why is there no authentication?
  This application was developed to take your library to users, wherever they are. Encourage patrons to take advantage of this additional method to connect with you, and you get the usage stats!

  Note: the Academic library beta will include an authentication requirement as library offerings are for registered students.

  Which new features will be available in the next release?
  In February 2010:

  • Users will be able to bookmark and access one library as their "favorite," even when outside the 10-miles threshold
  • The Subject Order on the products will be available in ascending alphabetical order to make it easier to find the groupings of products
  • You will be able to view the app version in the "More Info" view. Users who require tech support help can see the version they are running by touching the info button and viewing the app version number at the bottom of the view
