Finding Information
No matter the academic subject users are researching, Expanded
Academic ASAP is one database they will find results
time and time again. With five search modes, users will find the
search functionality that is right for their level of expertise.
Searching
Subject
Users type in a subject or phrase and click on Search. Results
are returned in the form of a subject guide list that has the
searched phrase presented by an alphabetical subject group. Subject
search uses controlled vocabulary providing users with the opportunity
to locate articles that match the exact topic.
Relevance
A Relevance Search returns the best 200 results, in relevance
order.
Advanced
More experienced users will like the Boolean search functionality
of the Advanced Search. By combining or excluding search terms,
journals, titles, dates, subject, author, among others, researchers
can pinpoint their searches easily.
Keyword
Simply type in a term of interest in the entry field and click
on the Search button. Results are presented in reverse chronological
order.
Journal Search
Access Gale's publication authority file and locate journal
issues in table of contents format.
Limiters
All of Expanded Academic ASAP's searches allow
users to limit, or narrow, their search. Limit options are:
- Articles with text
- Refereed publications
- By dates (all, on, before, after or between)
- Journal name
Search Results
All matching search results are returned as article citations.
The total number of citations is noted at the top of page. An
example of this may be: Citations 21-40 (of 486).
Researchers may click on the citation title to access the article.
Text is presented and may be viewed on screen, saved (or marked)
for later use, e-mailed or printed. Results may also be InfoMarked
for future use such as in reading lists or directing other
researchers to this search.
